Sanjugo Shoreditch

You'll walk into Sanjugo expecting the usual Shoreditch theatre, but instead you get something properly unpretentious. The room is minimal—exposed brick, bar seating, no faffing about—which means the focus stays entirely on what matters: the food. Their ramen is serious business; the broths simmer for hours and taste it, while the noodles have genuine bite. The yakitori skewers are charred just right, umami-packed and dangerously moreish, and the gyoza are the kind you'll find yourself ordering seconds of without thinking. It's the sort of place where locals queue without complaint because they know exactly what they're getting.
