The George
Proper Soho boozer where you'll find locals nursing pints and the odd creative type plotting their next project.
casuallivelytraditionalrelaxedpub
You push through the door on D'Arblay Street and you're immediately in the thick of it—wood panelling, low ceilings, the sort of place that feels like it's been pouring the same pint since the 1960s. It's unpretentious in a way that's almost extinct in Soho these days, where most bars are trying far too hard. The George doesn't try at all. You'll find a proper mix here: regulars who've got their spot at the bar down to a science, afterwork crowds from the media and design offices nearby, and tourists who've wandered off the main drag and found something real. The beer's good, the wine list doesn't show off, and the snacks are the kind of thing you actually want to eat.
