You're on the Strand, that mad stretch between Trafalgar Square and the Thames, and you duck into The Wellington expecting a tourist trap. Instead, you find yourself in a proper old-school boozer with dark wood everywhere, the kind of place where regulars have their spots and the bartenders know their stuff. It's got that lovely pre-war London feel—the sort of pub that's survived decades by not trying too hard to be anything other than what it is. The menu's nothing fancy, but it's reliably good: burgers, pies, that sort of thing. Staff are genuinely friendly without being annoying about it.
