Walk up Upper Galdeford towards the castle and you'll find yourself at a place that takes its fish seriously. There's a takeaway counter if you're after a quick supper to eat by the river, but settle in at the restaurant side and you get proper portions of flaky white fish, chips that are actually crispy outside and fluffy within, and none of the corporate chain nonsense. It's straightforward—mushy peas, tartar sauce, cold lager—done well enough that locals keep coming back. The sort of spot where you're genuinely pleased with what lands on your plate and won't begrudge what you've paid for it.
