Papa J's Indian Tapas Restaurant
Indian tapas done properly - small plates that actually make sense, not just regular curry chopped up into tiny portions
🍴 Indianlivelycasualfamily-friendlybuzzyrestaurant
You know that moment when someone says 'Indian tapas' and you immediately think it's going to be a gimmicky disaster? Papa J's on Wellington Street proves that instinct completely wrong. They've actually thought about how to make Indian flavours work in small plate format, rather than just serving you a thimble of chicken tikka masala and calling it innovative.
The menu reads like someone who properly understands both Indian cooking and the tapas concept - think lamb seekh kebab sliders that pack serious punch, or their brilliant take on bhel puri that you can actually share without making a complete mess. It's busy most nights (book ahead), and the staff know their stuff well enough to guide you through ordering the right amount. At around £25-30 per person, it's fair pricing for food that's clearly had some proper thought put into it.
