Don Tacos

You'll spot the neon signage from across Piccadilly Gardens, but don't let the shopping centre location put you off. Inside, exposed brick and hanging plants create something that feels more Guadalajara than Manchester city centre. The kitchen knows what it's doing with corn tortillas – they're pressed fresh and have that proper chew you get from decent masa. The carnitas taco is stupidly good, with pork that's been slow-cooked until it falls apart, topped with pickled onions that cut through the richness perfectly. Their mezcal selection is surprisingly serious for a place that could easily get away with serving terrible tequila to drunk shoppers. The smoky negroni variation they do is worth the trip alone.
