Walk under the Castlefield Viaduct and you're literally standing beneath one of Manchester's most impressive Victorian engineering feats. Built in 1892, this red-brick behemoth stretches across the canal basin like something out of a Lowry painting, its ten arches reflected perfectly in the water below. You can wander the towpath at leisure, grabbing angles for photos or just soaking in the atmosphere—especially brilliant on a clear day when the light hits those bricks just right. The National Trust maintains this stretch, so it's been properly looked after; there's real character here, none of that sterile tourist-trap feeling.
