You wouldn't normally write home about a supermarket bakery, but this Sainsbury's on Weedon Road does things properly. The smell hits you the moment you walk through the doors – proper fresh bread being baked throughout the day, not just reheated frozen stuff. Their tiger bread actually has a decent crust, and the croissants aren't bad for £1.20 each. It's handy being open until 11pm most nights, so when you're craving something sweet after dinner, their cookies and Danish pastries do the job. The staff behind the bakery counter know their stuff and aren't shy about telling you when things are coming out of the oven. It's nothing fancy, but for everyday bread and the occasional treat, it beats driving into town centre.
