The Longboat Inn

You'll find yourself on Market Jew Street—basically Penzance's main artery—where The Longboat Inn has become one of those places you just know will be decent. It's the sort of spot where you can roll in for a pint without ceremony, grab a decent meal if you're peckish, or actually bed down upstairs if you've had one too many. The bar has that lived-in feel of somewhere that's seen proper life: locals propping up the bar, tourists finding their feet, families sorting themselves out over lunch. Nothing flash about it, but that's rather the point. It's honest, straightforward, and it does what it says on the tin—which is more than you can say for half the places round here.
