You're stepping into probably the best-located Nando's in the East of England, right on Cathedral Square where you can watch the world go by through those big windows. The chicken here hits differently than other branches – maybe it's because they're not rushing orders for a constant stream of retail park punters, but everything feels more considered. The butterfly chicken comes out properly charred, the chips are actually crispy, and they don't scrimp on the sauce portions. The Cathedral Square setting gives this branch a bit more gravitas than your typical Nando's. You're not in some soulless shopping centre – you're practically dining in the shadow of one of England's finest Norman cathedrals. Staff here seem to take a bit more pride in the place, probably because they know half their customers are visitors who'll judge the whole city on their peri-peri experience.
