The Bank
Grand former bank turned proper pub with excellent ales and solid grub in a stunning Victorian setting that actually respects its heritage.

You walk into what was once Plymouth's most important financial institution and immediately understand why they kept the original fittings. The soaring ceilings, ornate plasterwork, and mahogany panelling create the sort of atmosphere that makes you want to settle in with a proper pint and stay for hours.
The beer selection is genuinely impressive – local breweries get proper representation alongside well-kept nationals, and the staff actually know what they're pouring. Food-wise, they've nailed that sweet spot between pub classics done well and slightly more adventurous options that don't feel forced. The Sunday roasts are particularly good, though you'll want to book ahead.
What makes The Bank work is that it feels like a real pub that happens to be in a spectacular building, rather than a tourist trap trading on its looks. The Barbican location means it catches plenty of visitors, but locals genuinely drink here too.
