You're walking along the waterfront at Canalside and you catch that waft of lemongrass and chilli—that's Banana Tree pulling you in. It's the kind of place that doesn't take itself too seriously but absolutely nails what it's doing. The menu reads like a proper Thai joint should: pad thai that has actual char on it, curries with real depth, and the satay is genuinely worth ordering twice. The cocktails are properly made too, not just fruit juice with a splash of rum. It gets busy (especially weekends), so book ahead or you'll be standing around nursing a drink.
