You'll do a double-take walking into this place – it's not every day you order a pint beneath soaring stone arches and stained glass windows. Set in a beautifully converted medieval church right in the heart of town, this Wetherspoons makes the most of its spectacular setting with high ceilings and original stonework that'll have you craning your neck. Yes, it's still very much a Spoons – expect the usual suspects on tap, curry club on Thursdays, and that familiar mix of students, office workers, and locals settling in for the long haul. But the building itself is genuinely impressive, and you can't argue with £2 pints and a full English for under a fiver. The staff keep things moving despite the size of the place, and there's something oddly satisfying about having your morning coffee where medieval friars once prayed.
