Sainsbury's
The Moor's Sainsbury's punches above its weight with fresh-baked goods that put most standalone bakeries to shame.

You might not expect much from a supermarket bakery, but wandering into this branch on The Moor will change your mind completely. The smell hits you first – proper bread being baked throughout the day, not just reheated from frozen. Their morning pastries are genuinely flaky, the sourdough has actual tang, and the afternoon cake selection puts most high street chains to shame.
What sets this place apart is the timing and turnover. Pop in around 2pm and you'll catch the second bake of the day, when everything's still warm and the counter's fully stocked. The staff actually know their products and can tell you what's just come out of the oven. For city centre convenience, it's surprisingly good value – fresh croissants for under £2 and decent coffee that doesn't taste like dishwater.
