You'll smell the sauerkraut before you even step through the door of this brilliant slice of Bavaria right in the city centre. The long wooden tables and benches create that communal beer hall atmosphere where you're likely to end up chatting to strangers over massive steins of Erdinger or Augustiner. The schnitzel here is properly enormous – easily shareable if you're not absolutely starving – and they don't mess about with the currywurst either. Staff actually know their German beers, which makes a refreshing change from places that just stick a Becks tap behind the bar and call it continental. Gets properly rammed on Friday and Saturday nights, but that's half the fun.
