You're probably here because everywhere else has shut and you need a drink, or you're staying at the hotel and can't face the trek into town. The bar at the Britannia feels like it's stuck in a time warp from the early 2000s, with tired furnishings and that particular chain hotel atmosphere that screams corporate efficiency over charm. The location on Dialstone Lane puts you a fair walk from Stockport's town centre, which doesn't help its case. Staff do their job competently enough, and yes, they'll serve you a pint at 3am if that's what you're after. But with the town's proper pubs and bars just a bus ride away towards the Market Place, this feels like settling for convenience rather than choosing somewhere you'd actually want to spend your evening.
