You know what you're getting when you walk into this sprawling Sizzling Pubs spot on Newcastle Road – hearty plates of comfort food that won't break the bank. The mixed grill is genuinely massive (you've been warned), and their Sunday roast actually comes with proper Yorkshire puddings that don't look like they've been sitting under a heat lamp all day. The dining room feels like a cross between a family restaurant and a traditional boozer, which works surprisingly well when you're after a no-nonsense meal. Service is usually spot on, and they're brilliant with kids if you're doing the whole family dinner thing. It's not groundbreaking food, but sometimes you just want a decent steak and chips without any messing about.
