The Oak

Walk into The Oak and you'll clock immediately that this isn't trying to be clever about it. Edward Street's got plenty of options, but this one's got something that doesn't photograph well: a genuine local following. The sort of place where regulars know the staff's names and the staff remember their usual. It's the kind of bar that makes you wonder why you ever bothered with the posher spots closer to the Pantiles when this is three minutes away and infinitely more honest. You'll find yourself staying longer than planned, ordering another round because the atmosphere just works.
