You know that feeling when you walk into a pub and it just feels right? The Cricketers, slung right on The Green in Richmond, is that kind of place. It's got the bones of a proper traditional boozer—wood panelling, real ales on tap, the works—but it's been smartened up just enough that you won't feel like you're stepping into your nan's living room. The food punches well above your standard pub fare; they've clearly put thought into their menu without being show-offy about it. The real winner is the terrace though. Facing onto The Green, it's the kind of spot where an afternoon pint turns into early evening drinks without you noticing.
