You're standing right on Market Place, where the cobbles meet the water and the seagulls are absolutely relentless. Abbey Wharf pulls off that tricky thing of being both a proper local boozer and somewhere you'd actually take visiting mates without apologising. The menu does the classics well—fish and chips that don't feel like a tourist trap, pies that taste like someone's gran made them, and they've got a decent selection of Yorkshire ales on tap. It gets busy, especially weekends and school holidays, but there's something about eating fish whilst watching the fishing boats come in that makes the wait worth it.
