Premier Inn Wigan Town Centre hotel
Hotel restaurant doing proper British comfort food without the usual chain nonsense. Actually decent Sunday roasts.

You wouldn't expect much from a hotel restaurant on Harrogate Street, but this place genuinely surprises. The dining room feels more like a proper local brasserie than your typical Premier Inn canteen, with decent lighting and tables you'd actually choose to sit at for longer than necessary.
The menu sticks to British classics done properly – think slow-cooked beef that actually falls apart, fish and chips with proper mushy peas, and Sunday roasts that put some nearby pubs to shame. The staff clearly give a toss, which makes all the difference when you're deciding between this and the Wetherspoons down the road. It's become a solid backup for when everywhere else in town centre is rammed.
