River Street's got a fair few places to grab a bite, but Mamma Mia's the sort of spot where you can actually have a quiet conversation without shouting. It's unpretentious in the way only a proper neighbourhood café can be — no faffing about with artisanal this or Instagram-that. You'll find regulars nursing espressos at the counter and couples tucking into lasagne by the window. The Italian classics are competent rather than revelatory, but that's partly the point. It's the kind of place you'd pop into for a quick lunch before heading back to the office, or linger over coffee on a Saturday morning without feeling rushed.
