House of Trembling Madness - Lendal
A brilliantly curated beer bar housed in a half-timbered medieval building, where the drinks list is as impressive as the timber beams overhead.
quirkycosyhistoricrelaxedpub
You'll push through the heavy wooden doors on Lendal and immediately feel the weight of York's medieval past — exposed beams criss-cross the low ceiling, wonky floorboards shift slightly underfoot, and the whole place has that intoxicating smell of old stone and good beer. The real draw here is the selection: rotating craft ales, proper ciders, and unusual spirits that change seasonally, curated by people who actually know their stuff. The staff won't patronise you whether you're after a pint of local Roosters or something obscure from a Danish microbrewery.
