The Old Bank

You walk past the old Victorian bank frontage on Lendal and think you're about to enter somewhere trying too hard. You're wrong. Inside, the exposed stone, vaulted ceilings and original features work because they're not performing—they're just there, honest and atmospheric. It's the kind of place where you can nurse a proper pint of local Yorkshire ale without anyone making a fuss about it, where the bar staff actually know what they're talking about, and where the food is decent pub fare done properly, not Instagram theatre. Lendal's busy enough without this place needing to shout about itself.
