You'll hear the Latin music before you even spot the bright frontage on Wood Street. This Cuban restaurant has been packing in punters for years with food that actually tastes like it's travelled from the Caribbean, not just picked up a few spices from the local supermarket. The ropa vieja is properly slow-cooked until it falls apart, the plantains are sweet and caramelised just right, and they don't mess about with the mojitos – proper muddled mint and enough rum to transport you somewhere considerably warmer than West Yorkshire. Weekend evenings get properly buzzy with groups celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, whilst weekday lunches draw the Wood Street office crowd looking for something more exciting than another sandwich.
