You might not expect much from a chain pub stuck on a business park off Herriot Way, but this particular Brewers Fayre punches well above its weight. The breakfast menu runs all day, which is brilliant when you're craving a full English at 3pm, and the Sunday roasts are generous enough to justify the trek out from the city centre. The staff here seem to genuinely care about what they're serving, and it shows in the details – chips that are actually crispy, burgers that don't look like they've been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Yes, it's still chain food, but it's chain food done properly. The beer garden's decent when the weather plays ball, and there's always parking, which counts for a lot when you're dealing with Wakefield's town centre traffic.
